I was thinking of Mabey a border around the blok face or a panel? This might solve other problems like security and theft of bloks. This might also be good for housing volume, lock and home buttons as well as providing well needed protection.

Yes you could customise cases too make them to whatever suits you

Or without cases it would be easier to chop and change pieces

But if we had a staple frame for everyone it would insure that your phoneblok would be re usable for longer

Kind of like an empty box without a back but then you could customise your own personal backing cover

The frame is the key the one thing that doesn’t Chang so it needs to be very robust

What if whenever a phone is ordered, another module is added that is the casing/housing of the phone rather than an actual external case. This would not only protect the phone from damage and wear and tear, but also from dirt and grime getting in between the modules. more on my idea can be read here: https://discuss.phonebloks.com/challenge/view/1/1131/The-design-of-a-modular-phone/housingcasing

If you try to make the phone stronger, you have to make bigger borders to each bloks, the base blok, etc. But that makes smaller place for component in bloks, and may reduce the phone’s efficiency. A case is definitely the solution: you protect from shocks, the screen is also protected with front borders. You can even make the phone waterproof if you look out some recent project.

What about a plastic casing around the blocks and it just “snaps” into place

Using metal would be better. Aesthetically, it looks better, as in the case of most Nokia mobiles, also metal parts can be used a little roughly.
