Do I need an upgrade?

Hello,
I am using 5960x as my cpu but my brother keeps telling me that I need an upgrade to 7700k.
Is it true that 5960x can’t handle most 4k gaming (although I don’t even do 4k gaming) and not designed for gaming at all so I should sell and switch to 7700k?
My brother’s idea is that comparing to 7700k, 5960x will always lag while playing most games out there therefore I should not keep it. (all I do mostly is playing LOL). Is this true??.
I didn’t find the right solution from the internet.

What is your gpu? What graphics card do you use for gaming?
First things first you need a high-end graphics card like nvidia gtx 1080 Ti if you are 4k gaming enthusiast.
Games are generally use single core performance of Cpu and if you compare i7700k , yes 7700k has more single core performance than 5960x. But i don’t think gtx 1080ti can bottleneck 5960x.
Summary: If you are 4k gaming enthusiast you should first consider to upgrade your graphics card. 5960x is ok for 4k gaming.
