Hello community
I am building the injection machine.
I have a question with the type k thermocouple.
My thermocouple at one end has a kind of bolt or screw … as seen in the following image

This screw should go between the tube and the band heater, but it does not fit, because the space is very small.
My question is if I cut this screw and leave the cable alone, will it work well? Will the temperature be well measured? or should not I cut this screw?
Thanks in advance
And sorry for the bad English, is not my native language
In general you are trying to get the tip in contact with the tube because that’s what you are trying control the temperature of (rather than the heater band). The solution above is an elegant way to do that. If you don’t want to do that, just take a small block, tap a hole for the TC threads and drill a hole in your hose clamp. Clamp the block to your tube first and then screw the TC screw into the block through the hole in the hose clamp. That way you can control how tightly the TC tip is pressed against the tube. The picture below shows the general concept but you would use the hose clamp instead of the two mounting screws.
