From the research I did HDPE and PP are often BPA free. You’re worries with BPA are goign to be PVC and PS. HDPE is commonly found in milk jugs, bleach containers, and laundry detergent bottles. PP is used for a wide variety of things but I founf it’s most common in pill bottles. I assume you’re worried about BPA for food. Food safe plastics do not retain their status after recycling so products made with recycled milk jugs will no longer be considered food safe.

Can you elaborate on the items no longer being food safe. If they are the same material why aren’t they safe?

@toochi84
If material gets recycled it is not considered as food safe. For food safe material production there are a lot of legislations about working hygienic etc. With recycling the products got in contact with materials that can contaminate the plastic. So it is officially not food safe anymore.
So it not about the type of plastic (although some types and additives are not food safe at all) it is about the process.

Fair enough, that makes sense. Just run all the shredded bits through a bleach bath…..haha. Clean!
