Hi everyone!Great to learn and read all about your topics and ideas.Currently it’s just the 3 of us running Phonebloks. We would love to expand the team and have 3 moderators that help us running and informing the community with new updates. We aren’t sure what would be the best way to select the most qualified people. Anyone any thoughts on this? And anyone interested in seriously helping us out? :)dave
Maybe you could do some kind of probation time, so the mod candidates have to do the work of a mod e.g. for one week, so you can decide whether they are qualified for this kind of job.
Hi DaveI think the PB´s project really need to use an approach based on “Job To Be Done”#JTBDThe community should never lose focus on the needs it seeks to solve, so I proposed as one of the first challenges ideas: #JTBD.Also if we could keep a list of JTBD and Outcomes to be achieved in each of them would be the best guide for development opportunities for all who wish to build blocks, applications, etc.Of course I would look for the best for this job.regardsGustavo
i would like to help, and you should definitely get people who really want to be a part of this and know about phonebloks.
There are tons of people on here that are perfectly qualified to be moderators and I’m sure would be dying to. I think the vast majority of people on this website are (no offense if this offends you) geeks. What I think you should do is ask people to submit a 500-character biography (I say 500-character so it can be brief and not waste all the time you can spend working with Motorola and such). This biography can contain the person’s past technological projects and works, but, importantly, how much free time this person has. Sorry, but if you want completely loyal and hard-working people, you may have to pay them. If this is a very demanding and time-consuming job, the person trying to qualify will have to have a lot of free time. What I think you should also do is maybe set up a Skype interview will the applicants you think are the best.
I could be a forum monitor if you like. I’m on the forums about 2-3 hours a day already and I could make sure people aren’t posting inappropriate material as well as merging similar topics and such.
I would love to help however I understand I am new to these forums. I use 2 other forums (one which is extremely active) too. When you decide the mods I would appreciate it if I was considered. Thank you 🙂
hey Dave, i would love to be a moderator, because i think i best represent one of the largest consumer groups for this technology, teenagers. i would give my ideas from a teenagers point of view (though still formal and refined) and respond the way the general consensus would ( giving my own unique opinion as well), if some of these opinions where exposed to a teenage audience.
Hey Dave! This sounds okay! I have also talked you over the mail , so u pretty much know everything about me, i am on 24/7 here, trying to give my best answers to people (and to help them out.). I have sent you mails from [email protected] , you may know it. Many thanks
decide who mods based off of your own specific requirements. mabey a certen number of posts or level of activity. depends on what your looking for for being a mod. since i just joined, dont look at my post count. XD. il be fairly active on the forums. this isnt my first forum, so i know what im doing. also, have some sort of test for mod canidates so that you have a way to filter out whos worthy and whos not. i could help if you want me to, but ya, its ur site, so u should have final say so.

JakeBluroe wrote: Why not both? ahahaha, that just reminded me of the soft or hard tacos add ahaha , and yeah we should give as much diversity as possible

I could say most of the contributors here are intelligent, so that shouldn’t be a problem. yes, although, i think that we could give a point of view that older people wouldn’t be able to, although myself and other teenagers on this site are intelligent, alot of the people buying this phone might not be so we could offer perspectivesthat incorporates their thoughts as well because they arejust as much of a consumer, i was talking to one such a person not long ago about this phone, they said if it looked “ugly” they wouldn’t get it, regardless of how functional it may be, so we need to account for people who think on a similar level.

Having said that though my guess is that the people on these forums know a fair bit about technology.
Thanks for the ideas! Welcome @SariusBernan and @Nikola as moderators in training! 🙂
I posted the following on another thread:”Perhaps you could advertise it like a job role. Once you have a number of people who have applied start narrowing it down by fitting them to certain criteria such as what their expertise is (if any), what kind of work they do, how involved on the forum they are (not just spam but good posts that contribute) etcetera. Maybe have a chat with them online to gauge personality and see if they are suited to the role. I’m sure there are a number of people like myself who would be glad to help out as a moderator.”However now I notice you have selected two people already. Congrats!I’m still happy to help if you want me!
Hey Dave,My interest was perked at such an offer. I’d be happy to help around in any way possible and would certainly take up the position of moderator if the opportunity presented itself. As for qualifications, I spend a great deal of time on this site, I’m available to do so a lot. I’m also up to date on technology and current affairs with competing phone companies and their products. My family were very pleased to hear of a phone that would tackle the issue of built-in obsolescence, as we’ve had our fair share of irritating, one part component failures. Yet again, I’d be happy to help Phonebloks in any way possible.Sincerely,Xanderfish
