Hello guys!
The company that is working with me to get the shredder parts is called “BBC Steel” and they are located in Oregon.
New Prices as of Oct 2019: ( so far the lowest in USA)
– 1 set $425.00
– 2-5 sets 300.00ea
– 6-10 sets $285.00set
– Shafts are still currently at $38.00 but could raise.
– Bearings $17.50ea.
****Shipping is not included – You will have to pay for shipping****
Important: This modifications were necessary for most accessible parts also to keep the prices low.
Blades were modified to fit the 1″ shaft (this set will fit perfect if you buy their shaft and bearings)
Shaft is 1″ with ends machined to 3/4
Bearings are 3/4
Website: http://www.bbcsteel.com
Contact for BBC Steel: Randy [email protected]
You can email Randy Including your name and state you would like to order the shredder parts, keep in mind the prices may be going up due to the material going up in price. BBCSTEEL is one of the few companies that is wiling to work at small scale (one set at the time) Not all companies are willing to work this way since we can’t order in bulk (100s at the time)
Again, We can not afford to lose this company so email with discretion and be polite, this would be ideal for people who require receipts and invoices (If for business, School districts, Non Profit)
Any question don’t hesitate to message me.
Thanks,
Andre

Just for clarification. This is for a complete plastic shredder unit, minus motor, for $1,050 for one, or $850 per unit in groups of ten? And an additional $150-200 for shipping and handling?
@benismobile Hi, that is correct. Chris from upstate New York @chriskudla found a company with even lower prices, this is break down:
1 set- $650
2 sets- $550 each
10 sets- $375 each
plus shipping
I still have to confirm with Chris on sizes. Also, I am in for the group buy and I am willing to make this happen I just have to coordinate with Chris.
Ok, that definitely looks better than the previous quotes folks were sharing. I’d like to get two units. So, how do we make this thing happen on our ends? Does @chriskudla send us a note with an email address or something?
Here in Oregon, I got the parts for my shredder laser cut in Stainless Steel for $317. It would have been cheaper if I had bought 5 sets. The guy quoted me for 1 set and 5 sets. If I had ordered 5 sets at time, it would have been about $193 per set.
Attached is the orignal quote. They guy did it in kind of a confusing way, so I parsed the info into spreadsheet, which you can check out here.
Also included a pic of the working shredder! If this is the best price folks have found, I’d be happy to coordinate a group buy.
@samsmith Wow!Yes please Im glad you came across this post! thank you!
Yes email me to [email protected] to coordinate
I will post the update now!

I’m definitely interested in the group buy, specifically to get two (2) units for myself.
I’m not on social media these days, so I wouldn’t be in any positon to touch base with other makers outside of email, but here are the urls to a few NYC area maker labs to gauge if they’d be interested.
fatcatfablab.org
hackmanhattan.com
And of course, you’ve got the iMakr Store in lower Manhattan you could reach out too, imakr.us. They sell 3d printers, but I imagine their people might be curious about this.
I’d spread word myself, but I wouldn’t know how to introduce myself out of the blue to anyone interested.
@benismobile @bgrocks thank you for supporting this group buy I will let everybody know once everything is set up please drop your emails here
@samsmith Sam check your email
Are these quotes for using metric steel or did someone convert to Standard ? thanks, Lee
@leebarnard I will have to confirm that with @samsmith im pretty sure is metric but is if not, Sam assembled the Shredder so in the case of the parts are in Standard it will work and fit properly
Yeah the version I built was metric, with the 27mm spindle. If I had read the forums first I would have just converted it. Instead I ended up ordering a 27mm hex spindle from McMaster Carr for way too much money. I also found that the bolt holes to keep the fixed teeth together were slightly bigger than the bolts I was using, causing the teeth to wiggle a bit. Not sure if the standard version accounts for that.
Anyway, if I were to do a new run, I would get the Standard version done, not metric. I’ll send Randy the quote request today.
Hi, I am extremely interested to get in on the group buy for the shredder parts. I’m looking to start recycling plastic in Lexington, Kentucky. My email is [email protected] – Thanks!
I am interested in getting at 1 at $200, or possibly 2 sets, depending on how much cheaper it gets.
I may be interested in a set of shredder part. I know someone who gets a lot of gears waterjet cut. If someone can send me a link to a standard set of files I can ask him about getting a quote. I live in Michigan.
George A.
What I would like to do is use the shredder to make pressed boards for bat houses. I want to go down to my farmer’s market and collect recycled materials from interested folks, shred their plastic, wash, press, bathouse! Will have to play with construction and colors to get thermal properties right.
don’t mean to blow this thread up, I’ve sent an email already, I just don’t want to fall through the cracks so let me post my email here, its [email protected] . I gotta say I’m more than a little stoked heheh. ok thanks folks.
@jdhe @albercook @lesir Hello guys! We are still waiting on @samsmith for the formal quote and we will take it from there. I will reply to emails now.
Thanks,
Andre

Where might I find shredder plans for standard thicknesses? Has anyone cut a set using these plans? Will get some prices in Florida. MLB
I would like to be a part of this group buy. I am 100% committed to getting these machines built for myself! Please feel free to e-mail me concerning all updates pertaining to this purchase at [email protected].
OK, so I may have access to a CNC plasma cutter. I think there would be a lot more work needed to clean up the parts than water jet and even more than laser cut. I don’t know what the Kerf will be. Has anyone gotten a quote on just the steel?
I would want a set of drawings that have been converted from metric to standard. I saw mention of someone having done that on this forum but with the search function not working it is hard to find things.
Regards,
George
