I would like to show you a fence design I came up with.  Right now I'm using deck boards from thrown-away pallets.  These are rather short and come in a variety of wood species, widths, thicknesses and  lengths. I call this design the Calico Cascade fence.  People who drive by in their cars while I'm out working on it in my front yard stop and compliment me on the fence.  It is very sturdy because I have placed the standard wood fence posts at 122 cm apart, which is the length of the pallet stringer boards  with notches for a fork lift.  The fence posts could be further apart.  The key feature is that there are three cross members for mounting the short boards.  The boards are overlapped like shingles or fish scales.  The effect is a cascade of diverse boards that curve slightly outwards.  So I think plastic boards would work as well as deck boards.  What do you think?
