Hi all!
I'm an industrial designer from the UK, my final year project was to create pipe for third world settlements to use in pour flush latrines as they currently struggle to source affordable, good quality pipework. at the moment their plastic is not cleared and therefore burned by the community to dispose of it.
I saw precious plastic and decided to make something similar to your extruder to try to make pipe out of this plastic. I used the same barrel and wood auger screw but used a hand-crank to power the auger.
The initial extrusion did not work as planned, further tolerancing dies and cooling chambers are needed however I developed a mould that work's instead. The plastic shrinks around the inside diameter which makes it difficult to remove the pipe but a slot down the inside diameter insert can be filled with a bar during extrusion, then removed when cool.
The pipe length was limited by the amount of plastic I had but I achieved 430mm long. with a 4.75mm wall thickness im confident that longer and larger pipe is possible. (i would love to see this on a extruder with a compression screw!)
I can draw up some plan's for this basic version for you guys to test if you like, just let me know!
Here's a video of the prototype:
