Wheat bran is a by-product of the flour industry. Whenever you are enjoying white bread, pasta or pancakes, the flour in the products has been separated from the shell of the corn, which is called bran. In whole weed products on the other hand bran appears as the material that makes it look darker. Since it contains starch and it is currently mostly used as animal food or compost, it is very interesting for biomaterials. All it takes to make a strong material from it, is gelatinizing the starch by mixing it with water and heating it up to more than 60°C. Processes and Products Edible Bowls from Wheat Bran
