Bottle Caps: Separating Inside from Outside

25/04/2017 at 22:42

Hello Everybody,

I noticed that a lot of plastic bottle caps have two components: the outer plastic portion and also an inner softer portion (which feels somewhat rubbery). Here’s an image in case you’re not sure what I’m talking about:

Clearly, the bottle cap is made of some white plastic (I’m guessing HDPE) while the inner blue part is some other material. Does anybody know a way in which these components can be separated?

-Louis
