Bread bag tags – what type of plastic

11/04/2019 at 23:46

Can anyone tell me what type of plastic bread bag tags are made of?  I think polystyrene (6), but I haven’t found a definite answer.  Thanks!

Most likely LDPE, may differ around the world though.

They feel stiffer than LDPE. Wiki mentions PS https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread_clip

I just wrote to the company that makes most of them, Kwik Lok, and asked them.

The bread bag tags are made of HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene) and Polystyrene (6).

Yeah, I collect them by the hunderds in South Africa for https://www.breadtagsforwheelchairs.co.za/ So, good recycling value, if transport cost is minimized. They have a voluntry transport network in place. So, transport cost to the organisation is zero.
