Build a WaterJet cutter for 300USD or even less

21/03/2018 at 05:42

Hi guys, this is a topic for people interested in build a water jet cutter, a machine that cuts metal with the combination of water and abrasive. This project needs a bit o knowlege of eletronics and mechanics. The main concept is some cheap parts compared to the industrial grade. This video it´s not my own but set the basic idea to make a Water Jet CNC (A machine controlled by a computer to cut metal with water) I’m Electronic engineer and have built some machines like 4’x 4′ and 4’x 8′ cnc routers and laser cuters Co2 as same with plasma cutters.

So to anyone whose is interested to make his own like I want too build a water jet cutter, please leave your feedback.

What types of pressure will need to cut metal?

The idea looks great and I would love to make my own CNC for this project, but I doubt it can ever cut steel with those PSI. However, it would be perfect for cutting plastic sheets.

The WAZER desktop water jet cutter, which raised a lot of money through kickstarter, has no problem cutting steel – but it is an order of magnitude more expensive.

It is possibly within the price budget of many makerspaces in some of the more affluent countries.

However, the specifications for the machine might be a useful comparison for anyone trying to build something cheaper.

I have been pricing out my own. i can make it happen for about 1500 or so. it is looking like it is going to be 2x the psi as wazer.

It is the abrasive that is doing the cutting and if anything it looks more powerful than the Wazer which is cutting steel.

if i were to build it the one i would copy is the omax protomax which is a 20k dollar machine but it is like 3 times better than the wazer.
the wazer can only do 3/16 steel (max) at .7 ipm (crawling). i want to do at least 7 inch per minute on mine at 1/4 inch

There is absolutely no way this can be made for 300USD as a CNC machine.

Buenas noches, nosotros tenemos un motor y compresor de un equipo de Limpieza con una capacidad de 10.000PSI con este equipo podemos hacer el cortador?
