Hello,
I am Mattia, I will start building the machines from April 18th in Berlin.
I have limited engineering knowledge but a great will and enthusiasm to get started.
If anyone in Berlin feels like spending a few days working on this, share a few beers and a have a bit of fun building reply to this thread ad we could meet.
Keep it up awesome community !!
Hey Mattia,
happy to read that!
I was planning on building two of them in Stuttgart, late May as well – but I do also have only limited engineering knowledge – but I d like to give you a hand nervertheless and see how it goes!
Hey Frency,
Nice… I am starting to work on the machines on Monday.
Fell free to join. Waiting for a green light for a studio space where I could work and then I am ready to start.
You planning on coming to berlin?
I live in Berlin and I have a studio space. However most of my tools are for wood working. I have done a good amount of metal fabrication in the past.
Hey briandavism,
Great..would you know a metal workspace where we could outsource some of the heavier duty processes.
Maybe we could then assemble the machine in your studio.
Let me know what think and we could meet.
Thanks !!
Hello everyone.
I have found a space to build the first set of machines..YESSSSS !!
Thanks everyone that offered help.
If you’re in berlin you’re more than welcome to pop by, say hi and check how the process is going.
Here is my phone number feel free to call me.

Hey mattia, i would like to build some maschines for my hackerspace too. But i’m based in Erfurt. Do you have any ideas where to get the laser cutting part for the shredder?
Hello @silversson,
I will start with the injection as it will be presented at Re:publica in May. It is better suited for workshops or demo.
Then will be the shredder beginning 8th of May.
Wanna join?
Hi @mattia-io,
I would like to join but unfortunately I’m traveling then.
I am interested in where you sourced or will source the parts?
Is there a recycling center in Berlin and how can they be accessed 🙂
Good luck in Re:publica.
My studio is at HB55 and there is a metal recycling place next door. One of my colleagues would get parts from them for her projects.
I would be really intrested to see if the cnc can do the cutting job. If you have any results please post some pictures :).
@silversson will update you on where I will source the parts. Make sure you contact me again in a month.
@briandavism cool thanks! Much appreciated. Is there metal too? Usually I can mainly find wood or cheap IKEA furniture.. 🙂 Could you give it a look as you walk by next time and tell me if you spot some metal tubes and poles?
@jurkov will do. CNC will start later in the month maybe May but I’ll send it over to you or post it here. A reminder would help 🙂
Good day to everybody.
Thanks “comrades” 🙂
Yeah they mostly tear down industrial parts for copper so there is lots of leftover steel. My friend said they don’t normally sell stuff but if you are polite and see something you like you can ask.
If you find a place to make shredder parts I would pay for a pair as well. I’m interested in the shredder and compressor for making recycled plastic guitar bodies.
Hey Mattia,
I’m new to Berlin and even newer to the community, would be great to see what you’ve built and to know how the process was.
Hope we can meet up soon!
All the best,
Fisher

@mattia-io how is the machine building?
I´m Judith from Berlin too.
Ive big problems to find any shop, schlosser, metallbauer etc. who makes an effordable price for the shredding laser cuts (300euro+).
is your shredding unit cutted alreaddy? how much did it cost? do you have any contact email from your cutting-helpers?
have you already made a cnc-mould? where? what kind of file was needed? autocad again?
i should really call you 🙂
@all/dave hakkens: does someone know where dave hakkens let his shredding-parts cut at? in his billing-overview it was only 120 Euro. so i´d love to order from the netherlands
Hey Berliners,
Over the week-end we will be trying to build the Compression machine with a bunch of amazing people part of OSCEdays.
Starting friday we’ll try to be ready by Monday, you can find more info here.
*We’re looking for a filmmaker to document the process and share it back with the community.
@goerl, maybe we could meet there and talk. I’d advise to go to Fablab Berlin- you should be able to cut the parts for about 100Euros.
Mattia
Hi Mattia
Where are your next stops on your tour around Europe? I would like to have a look at the machines and the working process? I am based in Switzerland, Zurich, but would be glad to meet you anywhere…
Hope we can meet soon!
Zoe
Heyho,
even though this post is outdated, I would like to re-open it. Until now I don’t have any machines yet but an old mini-oven. I used it to melt bottle caps and shreds of detergent container for molding.
Before investing my resources into a shredder as the basic machine, I would like to know if anyone like to share his or her one. Perhaps we can organise us here in town for sharing our stuff. I would rather start with a machine, that is not so common here.
Please tell us if you have a working machine (and which one) and if you are willing to share it – so we can specialise our efforts.
