I’ve been looking for someone to help me oit by building a PP shredder for me to be able to work in a regular UK 3 pin plug socket.
Apologies if this isn’t in the correct forum or group or wherever it’s meant to go but I wasn’t sure where to put it.
Paul,
I’ve got one here in Scotland, just need to connect the shredder to the actual motor.
They each cost me about £400 and have never been used if you’re interested.
I’m still looking for a built up shredder and frame with possibly an extruder if anyone could help me out with anything it would be much appreciated. I have been offered a shredder with motor but I don’t have the tools to make a frame for it. I’m in the north west of england so if anyone could get back to me I would really appreciate it.
Hi Paul – have you checked out the Bazar ? There is a whole section for buying machines https://bazar.preciousplastic.com/?category=machines
Its been a long time since i checked in on here, i’m still after a shredder if anyone has one at an affordable price in the UK.
Its all a case of keeping it low cost and trying to get something thats also local to me. I’ve been cutting plastic by hand using some cutters but its starting to effect to muscles and nerves in my arm. I can only ask lol
Well it depends on what you need. If you are not using an extruder and don’t need fine flakes, there are some lower cost options. For thicker plastic (laundry bottles etc.) I use a manual metal shear and can get to ~2cm flakes pretty quickly. I also bought one of the geared, low speed garden chipper for really thick material http://onearmy.world/community/forums/topic/recycling-larger-items/ .
For thin material (milk jugs, etc) a medium size CD capable cross-cut or micro-cut office shredder works as well. Each of these options is in the under $150 range….
…..or you can get a big bottle of ibuprofen.
I’m no longer after an extruder as i’ve moved on from trying to make filament. I do currently have a garden shredder which uses a disc with sharp metal blades on it but it only has one speed and its not good enough for what i’m trying to do. I really need a PP shredder with the teeth style blades.
