Today I’ve modified some Temp. Controllers.
A pretty regular design made and sold under different brands.
cd 102 example
Dave found some on E-bay. But we found out (a lot of input/output configurations) the ones we bought had a relay on board. They need a separate input signal to switch on or off (can be used for i.e. a heavy 220V relay).
Normally we use controllers configured for a Solid State Relay, SSR. Need only a + and – output straight from the controller to switch the relay.
Tried making some pictures explaining the (Low Tech 😉 ) process.. Only a soldering iron and 2 thin copper wires needed.

1 Opening up the housing….
2 Unsolder and Get rid of the relay… (The biggest black block)…
3 Put a wire (jumper) from the old relay coil inputs to the outputs 5 & 6. it helps using the old relay pins because they are already tinned.. I had nice red and blue wires on hand, witch are crossed to match the official SSR layout on the sticker and manual.

4 Put it back together and give it a try ;).

We had a modified one run for 2 days. No problems!!…….

Nice documented @keesdeligt. I’m sure we will need this again
