I started my extruder yesterday and I’m facing a problem.
When I start my motor the screw rotates but the barrel sways from side to side.
I don’t know why this is happening.
Can anyone help?
Screw: 25mm Diameter
Pipe: 25 mm Diameter
Motor: 1 HP 1440 rpm 0.75KW
Gearbox: 1:25
The shaft of the motor is not straight and course oscillations or the end of the extruder screw,. Try it with another motor but you can check easily disconnecting the extruder to the motor and turn them separately.
Alright fabirihotmail-com.
I have gotten a coupler which will separate the motor shaft from the screw.
Let me try this and get back.
Check @ 0:44 only.
You think this will solve the problem?
Yes, I think your problem is the solid coupling between screw and motor. A jaw coupling or flexible coupling of some type should solve the problem. It’s nearly impossible to align a solid coupling perfectly.
This problem was solved by adding a universal joint coupling. Check out the video, no more vibrations, screw is rotating perfectly :).
We had the same problems, In our case it was the coupling between gearbox and screw
