Hi,
I’m Maarten, a Dutch guy living since 20 years in France.
Well, first of all what a surprise to find the concept, the realizations, this community…wow I couldn’t even imagine that such a thing is possible…
How did I came here? I will not explain everything about my life, but shortly:
Since several years I have a growing passion for the African continent. Also I’m working in France in the agricultural sector and agriculture and the environement became also a passion. Today I’m taking slowly the step to turn me more and more to Africa and to be precise, Senegal. I’m on my way to buy small farm there. With the idea to make a model farm and help everyone there with the things I learned through my life.
But one of the part of the challenge is to set up the farm with what is availible there…. and that’s how i came here. The goal of the farm is to produce a part of vegetables. In Europe we use crates, wood or plastic. But in anyway it isn’t a problem to find them. We need the crates for a good storage and for transport. but overthere I don’t want to go to a wooden solution, mainly for ecological reasons.. And yes plastics is availible everywhere, along the routes, in nature or on the big pile near the city…nothing is recycled. So as I was looking for a solution I found you! Crazy but very cool!
I’m looking for a solution to recycle the plastic in to crates. Size 50 cm X 30 cm or 60 x 40. So it seems me quite big.
Maybe someone has the will to help me develloping first of all to see if it is possible.
My project is personnal, human and also economic.
That’s all for the moment folks!
Thanks
Maarten
Sorry for my English..it isn’t perfect!
Hi Maarten,
my wife is missioned for “clowns sans frontieres” and she got to to know the people from the fablab ker-thiossane. http://www.ker-thiossane.org/
You should contact them, i think they will be open to any kind of input.
Salut Maarten!!
I’m also new to this forum ( it’s fabulous!!!), and also looking for ways to start a plastic revolution in Senegal 🙂
Did you manage to find out whether there is a recycling factory in Senegal?
I’m currently in Kenya, but will be back in Senegal in February, maybe if you have time we can meet up?
So AWESOME to see these innovations popping up everywhere.
Sending warm greetings,
Fawzia.
