Hey all,
Super amount of Kudos to Hakkens and the team behind Precious Plastic!
There’s a group of us in Lancaster, UK made up of university staff, students and town-folk that are working on setting up Precious Plastic on the university campus with an overarching goal to create a society that educates people. Our mission statement (thus far) is:
“Educating people to recognise how fantastic and destructive plastic can be through hands-on experiences creating valuable products as part of a collaborative alliance between university and community.”
Our current timeline is:
Have two machines built for September
Play with machines and create some example products in September
Showcase products and encourage people (predominantly students due to campus setting) to set up a uni society and roll out a way of working in October.
End of 2018/19 academic year, have a working container system, powered by renewables on campus.
If anyone ever fancies popping by or helping out, we would be more than open to it! There’s a HUUGE amount to be getting on with 😀
Great to be part of the community too. Can’t wait to change our pin once we’ve got things up and running 😉
