Is this motor powerful enough?
I know this is one of those annoying questions, but I would really appreciate if someone here could tell me if this motor might be powerful enough for the shredder.
If so, would I have to run it on 460 volts, or could I get away with 230?
Thank you all so much for your help! I am happy to clarify if anything is unclear.
You can run it with 230V or 460V, thou it is only 0.25 hp, and I think that would be to weak for the shredder.
Thanks for that information. I also found this motor which is 0.75 hp. Do you think that’s enough?
EDIT: Oh wait, that has 3300 rpm… so it’s probably out. Do you know if 0.75 hp is enough in general?
Okay, one more question: Is this motor a good option? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-5-KW-2-HP-Single-Phase-Electric-Motor-240V-1400-RPM-1-5KW-2HP-1500-Watt-4-Pole-/320924007086#shpCntId
With a gearbox, it could be 70 rpm with 1.5kw and 2hp…
How about this one, since it’s triple phase? https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-LEROY-SOMER-3-HP-ELECTRIC-BRAKE-MOTOR-190-DELTA-380Y-VAC-1400-RPM-3-PHASE/330824855571?hash=item4d06b2b013:m:mEI5BFsgJrVM6ykWqHOgQUw#shpCntId
Take a look…
There is no gear on this motor, so you would need to make a reduction to get it down to 70 rpm.
