Label Removal Before Shredding

Do I have to remove all of the sticky labels on bottles and jugs? If so is there an efficient way to get them off other than just a razor?

Is there any instruction video for this kind of problem?

I let it soak in good hot water for a while, then a tiny drop of Dreft (grease remover) than scrape it off.

After the label is gone you can remove the stickyness with an abrasive sponge.
Just tried it out works great!

Sometimes it is easier to use the label you just removed to get the remaining glue off the plastic. Just stick it over the glue with the sticky side and pull again. Helps with some plastics.

Some labels can be very adherent at ambient temperatures and leave behind a sticky residue as many people have found out. Some label types you can remove them cleanly and easily by heating the bottle to about 70 degrees celcius for around 10 minutes and the glue will soften up enough to allow the label to peel straight off and leave behind no residue. Much cleaner than sponges and washing!

I’ve spent the past 30 mins removing labels from collected bottles.

I wish I had searched here before hand as it would have saved me some time ….

But I did discover many different labels and how they are stuck or put on, some I was able too peel off with no gule left and the rest of them needed too be soaked for a few mins before the label finally came off.

Warm water and oxyclean will take off most labels fairly easily as well as soften up the glue.

commercial process use caustic soda and hot water.

Why do you have to remove labels?

If I shred plastic with the label on and then clean it in washing machine, will that take the label off?

I was looking for this.

Did anyone tried vinegar, is that an option?
