Building a bigger extruder based on the original. The barrel is longer, and upped the heat to 3.3kw.
Motor is bigger. One unit is getting a 1.5hp and gearbox, the other is getting a 1hp sumitomo gearmotor
Frame upgraded to 2x2x3/8 inch angle bar on one unit and the other used 3mm wall 30mm square tube.
Both use 4mm MS plate instead of plywood for the top.
Added in emergency stops, 4 heat controllers, and circuit breakers to all the heaters/motor.
Electronics enclosure is 300x400x200mm case, made in house.
Considering using a CPU case for build number three of this series.
Motor couplers machined, painting done. (used hardware store paint and it took days to fully dry which delayed things)
the electrical control box is done, painted and awaiting wiring. Still need to purchase some terminal lugs, terminal blocks, and switches to finish it. one more metal part to make from angle bar.
Machine is running.
The gear ratio is too high and the machine is running extremely slow.
I was supplied with shredded PET except it was shredded too large and contaminated with HDPE.
Will change that today and run again.
Swing me a line! I’m based in 8419 and would like to connect.

Here is another one under construction. Will be finished this weekend.
It was supposed to be finished.
The terminal connectors got misplaced, and the gearbox shafting was bent because I put on a new pulley, didnt get the key right and pulled the pulley wrong, bending the shaft.
This necessitated rebuilding the shaft on the input side. Checked the output shafting and it was bent so that also got fixed.
Assembled everything yesterday. Discovered that a seal was missing so all the oil leaked out.
Made new shaft seal on the lathe.
Now that is all together, making a upgraded barrel and hopper from stainless steel, then final wiring and assembly, Maybe Wednesday. it has been super hot in the shop with temperatures above 30c.
