Research in PET plastic

Hey Guys !
I’m Gaétan, product designer living and working in Maastricht (NL). I’m working since the last 6 months on research based on plastic bottles. I’ve created different molds in order to re-shap PET plastic. My aim is to keep the transparency of the plastic during the making process.
All prototypes and final products are handmade and developed by myself.
Feel free to react on it !
Have a super cool day !

Cool, I was trying this with glass bottles like a mold but my results sucks! Great work Guys.
Hey Geoeraala,
Thanks for your message ! It’s sounds easy like this but I made a lot of experiments in order to get a nice result. These experiments are actually the last ones that I’ve made.
From now on I’m using this process to do Lamps, feel free to check it and share it !

Hey Bobi,
very nice lamps and structures. I like the shape and transparency very much.
Would you mind to share technical details regarding the mould and process? Do you somehow anneal the plastic flakes before moulding? If yes, how long / temperature? Moulding temperatures? What about cooling it down?
Asking all those questions as my journey with PET will start soon, having an aim to create transparent tiles / strings, and would like to have a few hints, if possible.
Best regards,
Grzegorz
