Shredder Gear Box Thingy

Hi Guys,
The gear that you’ve used on the shredder motor (the 90 degree thing between motor and shredder shaft) – what is it exactly? Does it have a specific ratio or speed reduction?

Do you think id run into problems with torque if i mounted my motor shaft directly to the shredder shaft? I’m confident that l’ll be able to achieve the speed i need, but im just not sure if im gonna go into some kind of over current straight away at normal load. Have you guys tried this?

Cheers,
Paul

Ahh, thanks for moving it.

Do any of you guys know the worst case torque in N.m would be? I presume with say two bottle lids at the same time?

Hi paul

The shredder requires quite some torque, we used a motor with a worm wheel to get the job done. However you could also use other ways to accomplish this, belts, gears etc. In the end it doesn’t really matter that much how fast it goes but you do need torque.
