Shredder motor too much power?

06/03/2018 at 00:19

I’m trying to gather the parts to build the shredder and I’m wondering if this is too powerful?

no its not to powerfull
you will need a gearbox to reduce the rpm but that is a good thing
and i see ph=3 it meens a 3 phase motor
so it will run on 460v do you have acces to a 460v power supplier?

Thanks for the response. I have single phase 240v so I would take it that’s not enough to power this thing. What’s the 208-230 before the /460? Also below there is an area that says useable at 208v?

i think it runs 3460 rpm @ 460v 3 phase
if you run is @ 208-230v (anyware in between) 1 phase it would be 1/3
but still good enough i guess

Hello Door- This is a 3 phase motor which most homes in the USA do not have. You will need an inverter and an electrician to wire it properly. You will also need a gearbox to slow the speed down to around 50-150 rpm depending on the materials and part configuration you will be shredding. Best of luck!
