[Precious Plastic] Translating our content

20/04/2016 at 16:03

Hello dear members!

This topic is for everyone that wants to help us out translating our content. (download kit/videos/website) We love that! But to be honest we haven’t find a proper way to do this yet and haven’t really got the time to get involved. So this topic is to bring everyone together, maybe some of you have some great ideas or want to get started on something.
In the end the more languages we have the more people it reaches!

Good luck and thanks for helping out!

Hi there!

My name is Luciana, I am a professional freelance translator, and I would like to participate in this project, translating from English to Spanish, but I am getting a bit lost in the messages and the organisation of this all and I don´t want to start doing anything that has already been done. Are you Matthieu coordinating it? I found your file and instructions to make perfect sense, but I haven´t seen much response, so I don´t know if it is because everyone is using another method and that one is not updated or that no one is working on this project at the moment and your updated file is the one to follow. Can you or someone else please let me know? I don´t have much time at my disposal, but I would really love to give a hand here cos, as all of you, I believe we can all make a difference together. Many thanks.

Looking forward to hearing from any of you soon, I wish you a Happy New Year!

Luciana

Hi Dave and team,
Dear all,

This email is just to let you know I have uploaded the webpages and download material translated into Spanish, plus the TM (sdlxliff file, Sdl Trados Studio) of it all to the following folder:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B4eBb9SvUgDlOGlEQ1VmSG9PR3M

The formats are not OK since they are transformed pdfs, but I tried to do my best with the little time I had available. I couldn´t translate the videos nor the blueprints for the lack of time and the fact that SDL couldn´t convert the format to do that… sorry! Still, I´ve seen that many videos, if not all, are already translated.

Even if I checked the contents, all this material should be revised and, ideally just before publishing, checked by a technician, so as to make sure that the chosen terminology is OK.

I believe in this project and in involving everyone, but to spread the word further it´s a priority to translate the site and publish it in multiple languages asap, so that its impact is much bigger. Specially since this project can help people without a job or money to get a better living and these people usually don´t speak English, but the local languages. The most widely spoken languages according to the attached pic are the ones I would push to go for first.

All that being said, have a great week everyone!

Luciana

Hi Dave, hi guys, I downloaded the material to build the machine that makes extrusion and that to make shredding.
But I need help on the size of the drill bit to be used, I would understand the length and then I would like an information sheet with further measures on the part about the blades of the shredder, because they lack the size and diameter of the other parts.
I hope you will help me.
thank you.
Paolo

Hello there. Seems that there have been no korean here for the campaign.
You guys are still working on spreading this movement to more countries on the list shared on the google doc above? If then I’d like to join translation support to make the contents into Korean. If you have any specific deadline to launch it, kindly let me know by your reply. 🙂

Hey there

It would be useful if you make available the transcripts of the videos so we can translate them. Brazilian people need it.

What’s the status of this? I’d like to contribute with translation or review of Portuguese (non-brazilian) but this whole thread is not very usefull in understanding what’s done and what is not…

@davehakkens and the team,

Could you please highlight the progress on the translation, so that we could structure the translation, get people on board with that.

It could help if we had a topic with names of people translating and their reports on the progress. We need to structure it properly.

If you want to contribute to translating content, please look at this post.
This topic here is outdated, so, to avoid confusion, I’ll close this.
