We are building the machines in the Munich Maker Lab and there are a bunch of more people in Munich who want to get started 🙌
I think @severin was planning to organize a Precious Plastic Munich meetup during the Streetlife Festival in May – so we can all meet, exchange and join forces!

as @katharinaelleke mentioned we (@dmte, her and me) are currently in the process of building machines at the Munich Maker Lab, and there’s some pictures of that over here. The MuMaLab has a booth at Streetlife festival, which happens on the first weekend of May, where we’re planning to show some precious plastic stuff as well.

As for the Meetup, I’d love to do one during the week before that, which is also when I and hopefully some more people will do a lot more machine building in the Lab. I should probably get that meetup set in the next few days 🙈

Cool. So I was thinking something like 5pm on May 1st, at the Munich Maker Lab, Dachauer Str. 112f, 80636 München. It’s a few minutes by Tram (20,21) from the main station (Exit at Leonrodplatz), if you’re from a bit farther out.

We could take a look at the state of our machines, talk about what everyone’s ideas are, and what we can achieve together. We can also make some sort of a plan for Street Life Festival on the weekend after, very much encouraging everyone to join us at the booth there. Then of course we can always fire up the barbecue, so feel free to bring some stuff for that as well.

Looking forward to meeting all of you 🙂

I will die… Saturday we cannot come. Some sport obligation. 🏉 And we don’t live in the München area … We are near Donauwörth. 🚁

Hey everyone,

Tuesday was a bit on the small side, but we discussed some stuff about what we could do moving forward.

The shredder is coming along, and we’ll put on some finishing touches tomorrow right before loading it into the truck for StreetLife festival. You’ll find us close to the corner of Theresienstraße, look for a red van with a dark blue tent out front. @dmte will probably be there both days, and I’m looking to be there all day on sunday as well. We might also bring our oven and do some compression tests, if we find some nice molds to work with.

Hey everyone! It’s been a while, so time for an update, huh?

Next Streetlife festival is coming up in a week, and those seem to be some sort of accelerator for the stuff we do, weirdly enough. So again, we’ll have a booth there, we’ll bring the shredder, which hopefully works a whole lot better than last time. We’ll also bring a big amount of plastic to shred, some stickers, and maaaaybe even our injection machine. It’s been in the works for ever, now we’re just left with putting it together, painting it, and making a few molds to test it out. Super exciting, and I hope I can finish it on time.

Anyway, long story short, I hope we’ll meet a few of you there, and maybe use that as a start for more regular meetings. We’ll be across the street from the Staatsbibliothek, I’ll be there Saturday and Sunday, and @dmte will join on Sunday.

Hey everyone,

wanted to give you all a quick update. @dmte and I’ve been busy with lots of other things recently, but we’ve been collecting plastic all along, and shredding some of it now and then when we get around to it. We’ve had some more problems with our shredder, it’s really kind of a pain at this point, but we try to keep it running as best as we can.

We have some plans for next year. First thing will be having regular meetings, current plan is like one per month, to keep things rolling a bit smoother. I’ve just opened up a meetup group to organize those meetings -> https://www.meetup.com/de-DE/Precious-Plastic-Munich , maybe we can have the first meeting already in the first week of January. What do you think?

Second, we’ll have a booth at Make Munich, the first weekend of March. The current plan is to take the shredder and the injection molding machine, and show off some things. Anyone interested in joining us?

Third, we’re looking for a dedicated space. Currently we’re located at the Munich Maker Lab, which is cool, but if we were to find something we could make into a special Precious Plastic haven, that would be extra sweet. So if you have any idea where we could do that, let us now.

Before we enter the new year, the Munich Maker Lab is having a small Christmas party tomorrow, Thursday, Dec 20th, at their space, and we’ll be there too. If you have time to pass by, we’d love to show you some of the stuff that we’ve been making, collecting, etc.

Hi Severin,

Thank you for the news ! I was wondering yesterday what was going on ^^

On my side I will be back in France until the 5th of January so I will not be able for tomorrow and the meeting of the first wek of January.

However I’m in for giving a hand for the make Munich event and I find the idea of meetup super cool ! With more regular meeting I think we should be able to unlock the pain point 😉
I’m really looking foward to see how I can help you guys in this cool project.
