Non problem I don’t take a lot of time on the forum.

Cool but I don’t know if there is a lot of parts to make own laptop.
I’ve unmount (destroy) an old laptop and I’ve see some pieces.

I’ll try to make a disxord I’ve I can find the time to 😅

@pixel3d
The problem with desktop pc is that you need… A desktop (or table or other you understood). It’s not mobile.

Hmm… A raspberry does really not solve the problem, it can’t play big games, and you can’t upgrade it, it’s like others laptops.

Hi ! @alanson

Yes it’s a good idea but I think that make a very modular desktop or a modular laptop could be easier than phone.

Yes it could be cool 😉

To my self I’m actually in High School and I haven’t a lot of time either.
maybe we could make a discord or something like that ? I think it will be easier to answer and work on the project.

Hi @alanson !

I’m sorry for the late answer and I am very happy to see someone intrested in that :p

I’m not a professional in Electronic but first I think we should make a specifications :

– What do we need first ? Performances, something functional, …
– What design we want, …

After we could start making a prototype which cardboard or something like that.

We should also have some engineers to help us :p

@andyn You’re alright I don’t think it’s a good/intelligent idea 😉
Will you sell them locally ?

@ipamisme No problem and thanks you !
@ferrash It’s a good project ! Keep continue it !
For the pyrolysis I don’t think that some one here start to making a machine for that but some people talked about it. You can search here :  https://davehakkens.nl/community/forums/search/ You’ll certainly find something 😉
And you’re not obligate to recycle it you could maybe give a second life. Pyrolysis is in tires is that it ? So Search how you can recycle them 😉 I’m sure that you’ll find a lot of idea on internet ;p

@lagrenouille
Okay I understand 😉
I didn’t talk about glue :p I know that glue it’s horrible (Bottles…)

But I think that assemble parts like puzzles could be nice 😀 And Plastic only
And this more discreet

You could also assemble parts like puzzle and then weld them to be sure that they stay stick.

Bonjour @lagrenouille !

Will you try other way to attach plastic ? A puzzle like way ? Screw ? …
I think it could be cool a topic where you share multiple way and tell advantages and disadvantages of each way.

To answer to your question, you can post it on the forum but you can only post 3 pictures, so you could do some montages but it’s not optimal.
I don’t really know where you can share it.
This site  could be used : https://www.instructables.com/

Hello @bjn1968 !
It could be a very cool idea, we could use Precious Plastic to make Phoneblock screen !
But, which part of the screen do you want to do ?
Because I don’t think that we could do the lcd/led display ^^
The transparent panel that protect the display is often in glass, and there is something on it to be conductor, it’s why screen are tactile.
So we could maybe replace the glass by transparent plastic but I’m not sure.
We could maybe do the framework ?

(That’s cool to see someone interested by the phoneblock project)

I don’t really understand why you feel very interested and active on the PP community but you don’t like the project ^^’ It’s a bit surprising.

So, I think, you sell machines at this price because you want to give quality in first time, after you probably want to make money with them and you want to cover the PP bazar and the shipment fees isn’t it ?

You can try to make a new shredder design. It’s the good time, there is the V4.

Then I think we come again to the same problem, the communication (due by the forum). So i think we can  just wait to the V4 for the moment.

Thanks @andyn for the informations !
So we can find them in developed country like France ?
And we can use a mono-phase power on try-phase one, no ?

Hello @halimwidyakusuma
Yes the machines looks very cool, mostly if it cost 450$. But it looks impossible in a country like France, a machine like that will cost at least 2 000€.
And the unassembled shredder is (very) expensive  if you buy it on the bazar. But if you buy the laser-cuts locally I think it’s about 200$. Some people arrived to have it for free (they just pay the steel).

But if you have a link to this machines (like a shop or a presentation website) I’ll be interested.

@wamsi you told that I (we) can’t tell to industries to stop making plastic stuff, that’s true but this is not what we want. Because we can’t and we don’t have to. But if nobody buy plastic packaging, but cardboard instead. Don’t you think the industry will use cardboard instead of plastic ?
And I know this will not appear tomorrow. It will take a long time. But look at the foo, a lot of people start to eat Biologic food, OGMs are more and more critiqued.
So I don’t know if it will append but I trust into.

@anne-barbier I’m alright that making these machines isn’t very easy and affordable. But I don’t think it’s totally false. I’m currently trying to do my own machines. For the moment I did 2 trip to the dump and I get a working motor and a oven. For the moment I want to do the shredder and the compression machine. So, Yes I have nothing for the moment but it cost me 0€ too.
Now for me the more expensive things are the shredder and the band heaters.
But I think other things could be find for free or cheap.

To finish you said that Dave lies, I’m not very okay with that. When you go on PP website and you see how to build machines under videos there is an estimation of the price. (Ex. Shredder ~300€)
And in the download kit there is an estimation of the price for each element in a machine.
I’m okay that Dave isn’t very transparent and don’t say everything in his video.
I also want to do that people often rush headlong without checking every thing, so yes when you see the price of the laser cut and you thought it will be free, yes you can be surprised.

Okay we need a new forum. It’s a reality.
And a new website maybe but after certainly. Now I think we just need to the V4, there will be some developers to work on PP.

There is more than 10k user and more nearly 5 topics created everyday, how a man can answer to all this topic, do research for PP, live normally, …
Dave isn’t a robot and he isn’t a professional.

Why does people lost money and some other doesn’t ?
Of course there are problems, machines aren’t perfectly operational. But it’s a little team and they haven’t as money as big incorporations.

I think a new forum will arrived, we just need to wait. They first want to upgrade the PP project and I find it understandable.

But to have a better forum now, maybe it’s could be cool to have more moderators.

It’s that on a forum as simple as this one (maybe too simple I’m alright) they arrive to post in wrong forums.

Yes there is lot of things missing here. But I think Dave and his little team can’t do everything. But that will probably change with the Version 4 and the big team.

You can move it editing the topic (first message). Else I don’t know if a moderator would do it ? ^^’ @flo-2 ? @xxxolivierxxx ? @jegor-m ? (I’m sorry to mention you all ^^)

Hi @wamsi !
I think plastic industry will fall but I don’t know when, maybe in 2 centuries, maybe in 4 or even maybe never.
Packaging could be in cardboard, in glass, or in metal which are elements that pollute less and are easier to recycle.
How did we do 1 or 2 centuries before ? For example bottles were in glass.

Hi @janvankelst
Flo moved it to the good forum don’t worry about it.
You should post it in the “Precious Plastic” one then in “Questions?” or in “Research about plastic”.

I sent you 2 links to recognise plastic above.

Then if you want to find something on the forum you can search there : https://davehakkens.nl/community/forums/search/
It doesn’t work at perfection but it work.

You can also download the download-kit and go into “2. Plastics” folder and you have 3 pdf files that could help you recognising plastic.

To complete the previous answer you can find it here : http://bazar.preciousplastic.com

And I think it depends of the type of the machine and where you live.

Hi @anne-barbier !
Yes it’s cool he look easy but you (we) are “good” internet users and we now use forums. But I’ve almost never see a forum as simple as this one and there is a lot of people which do not know use it… I think with your it will be even worst.
I’d like to have a complete forum as your but I think users will be lost.
And the design of yours stay far from the Dave’s one.
If you can do it as same as it, I think it will be easier to use it on this website.
