In description you mention that motor speed varied between 210~250 rpm – it is not clear for me. This speed of motor, or speed of screw after gearbox? What ratio of gearbox do you have in your machine?

Do you have heaters on the mold, or are all your heaters mounted on the side just on the extruder side?

In my case, at some point the plastic gets stuck in the pipe – and the only working way to push it forward is to use heatgun (which in turn is extremely inefficient).

I am satisfied with the quality of my plastic beams (they are strong and smooth) but the process if really difficult takes a long time.
And I’ve never been able to make a bar longer than 50 cm.

Hello, any tips about PS demount?
Some times I couldn’t extract beam from metal tube, even with brute force.
Do you use any mould release or oil inside tube?

What temperature do you use for melting – it is a very difficult find appropriate regime because of different types of plastic?

I am not sure about all manufactures, but some of labels are PP.

Hi,

are you sure that the label from carbonated drinks is made of PE (Coca Cola, Pepsi Co, etc)?

I think it’s PP plastic.

@rajan

With what materials do you have successful experiments (I mean good quallity beams)?

Could you share temperature regimes you used for HDPE, PP, PS (may be you tried  PLA, etc)?
What type of plastic is easier to remove from tube after extrussion?
Do you use any piece of wood inside the tube during extrussion process to make preasure inside tube – to make you product more smooth?

Also I am interesting about you screew (do you used screew with compression)?
And what speed of screew do you set during extrusion process?

Tnx.

@rajan

Hi, could you take several photos. I am interested in how you joint nozzle with pipe. Do you use welding or just nuts&screws?
Also do you heat up pipe during extrusion process (some guys use such technics).

Tnx in advance!

@kaiyi

As for me it is easier to separate caps before shredding. In addition, I separate it by color as well.

Actually it is not my first experiment with PLA.
At one of the first versions of my shredder I used PLA made muff (before I found industial muff).
So that PLA muff could easily cut 8mm steel stud.

It seems like PLA is most complicated plastic for shredding.
In shredder it starts heat up, all small parts stick together, and its look like huge gum.
That gum sticks between metall parts, that could damage shredder machine.
In my case PLA broke steel shaft.

Such transparent plastic could be PET, PVC, PP, or PS.
If it sinks down in water – then it is a PET. PVC, PP or PS usually float.

Frankly, I have the same problem on both shredders (AISI304 & mild steel).

Hi!
About bazar site.
Could you please add button to attach picture in conversation?
Right now I use google drive to share pictures (photo of parcels, track numbers etc), but it is not convenient.

Another problem that dates on bazar site in such format: 1 month ago, 3 days ago, etc.
But there is no specific date. And I already had to check the date manually by finding email notofication in my gmail, about that message from bazar chat.
It will be great if you duplicate date in dd/mm/yy format also.

Tnx.

After that I noticed thatmaterial from black layer floats, and gray layer sinks.

I tried to call on factory which produced them, and they said that whole sheet made of HDPE.

But I do not understand why gray material sinks.

Could you analize it on your machine, I will send you examples?!

P.S.
Also I could send you pieces of Polyoxymethylene (POM).

And like solid pieces.

If you see, that sheet consist of 3 layers (black/gray/black).

I tried to melt it in coca-cola can, and that rod do not float like regular HDPE.

@matoha

Hi,
sorry in advance for many pictures below:

In our lab we use PE sheets for CNC milling.

To produce frames for other CNC machines.

We buy such HDPE sheets here: https://www.fdplast.ru/list-pnd/

So after milling we have a lot of waste.
Which could look like ships.

Compressor airgun doesn’t help with chips which stuck between blades.

5) Anyone has autoreverse feature on your shredder, to prevent damage machine when you cut something tough?
And maybe someone khows how to do such electricity circuit?

Like on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuhZM5cP3VQ

4) What type of clutch do you use in your shredder?
Dave’s similar or factory clutch?

I have changed several types of them – right now I use taper bush type.

3) How do your operate with your engine?

In my shredder I use powerful motor. But this motor is for special purposes such as garage doors elevators. So operation time is 10 minutes, and then it needs to be cooled.

If I use shredder without pauses – engine could heat up to 150C in one hour.

In what regime you use your engines. Can it works several hours without stops?

2) How your work with colors? You presort containers by colors, and that shred them.
Or your shred all HDPE (for example), and than you sort small pieces by colors.

Another question about bottles, which consist of lid (HDPE, LDPE or PP), bottle (PET, HDPE), and label (LDPE, PP, or just paper).
So you throw fully bottle in shredder, of your remove lid, label before that?

Right now I have piles of different plastic waste, which need to be shredder. And I wonna optimized that process.

@davehakkens

And what about vacuum forming machine?
We could use compressing machine to produce thin sheets, which then could be used for thermoforming.

There is one of examples: https://youtu.be/CQpr1AoAKsk
