I don’t know if Guenter is your personal name. But give me another “name” how you want us to call all of your forum troll accounts and we will use that.
Thanks for taking the time to formulate your words @deeemm. Useful information, we’re quite aware of the bad things in the forums. It’s really annoying. We’re working on fixing it, however it turns out the be quite a complex thing to work on. But we are really re-thinking what online collaboration should look like, what are the tools we need, what is already out there in which gaps we need to fill. Quite a big challenge, but also an interesting one because it would make it much easier in the future for communities to collaborate. Here an alpha version of our current status. So thanks for caring and letting us know, sorry its taking us some time.
@s2019. We have a few members around the world that are able to sustain on PP. But indeed little, way to little. So that’s why providing numbers and concrete business models is such a crucial topic for V4. In October we will release many new tools that should make it much more doable to achieve this. Until that point you rely on your own knowledge or some tips and tricks in the forums here. so indeed: It is best to consider the PP download kit an instructables and assume you are on your own for safety and financial viability.
On another note.
I’ve been following this topic, like most of the topics out here. But didn’t interact because I would now plastichub would get into this state again.
For anyone following this thread. @plastichub is our recurring forum member Guenter, under yet another account. In the last weeks we’ve had many dedicated forum members leaving and giving the feedback that they don’t like how the forums are being dominated by this one person. Killing the entire positive mindset of people like @deeemm that want to constructively help out PP.
Guenter, we’ve talked about this many times before, many warnings. So i’m going to freeze you account so you can cool down. Next week you can use it again.
After that, stay on topic, no poking for fights, keep your personal frustrations out of here. Or share your thoughts on pp-org and build your own version of Precious Plastic according to your own guidelines there. But here is not the place for this kind of interaction.
i will also close this topic, feedback is noted!
Nice topic. Super useful. And good news guenter. We started working on adding improvements for the shredder in the download kit. But we first want to make/test the shredder before we add something new to the download kit. We are thinking of having a 2.0 and 2.1 rigid version. Mainly because (believe it or not) some people actually like the simple v2.0 version. We see 2.1 as a stronger more solid version. We’re browsing the forums for feedback.
Currently on the list
– Increase mesh thickness
– Bigger axe
– Automatic reverse if shredder yams
– Clamp blades so they don’t scratch walls
– Hardox blades?
Let me know if you guys have ideas or suggestions to add!
i would agree with @frogfall here. forums are public and thats the cool thing about it, everyone can read and interact here. Slack, discord, whatsapp those are tools people use for “backstage” PP. Community members around the world already use those for their own local communities, maybe we should have one for the entire community? However I do also like the openness, accessibility and transparency of forums
monthly news #28 Guenter. wait for it 🙏
hmm.. maybe i should just go work at starbucks or something.
But why don’t you guys come to Eindhoven if you are so interested to help? IMPROVE the things we do wrong. Make us really “open source” We are open for you. Stop typing start contributing
We carefully make our decisions and probably have our own way of working. We have to choose our battles since unfortunately also we have limited time. If you think it can be better/improved go for it. We don’t want to slow down any development or good ideas. PP Pro sounds great though. We are working on more “pro” machines and documentation. However there will always be a need for support/helpdesk (people would even pay for this service), but this isn’t something we would take on since we focus more on development. Could be a fun business model for someone?
wow very impressive work! Looking forward to see how it runs, why did you end up casting it in bronze?
great work! The place looks super nice to work in 🙂
Its this “high” because we want to keep on improving the bazar. Many features are lacking and we don’t like to run on external software. (So no ebay.) But development takes resources, a fukton, specially since we want to rebuild it from scratch so it can be fully integrated in the Precious Plastic network. A massive task, so that €150 of yours is a peanut (crucial peanut) considering what it takes to develop. But if you feel its not worth it, don’t want to support PP and all the work we done before and the entire community behind that does want to continue development. Go ahead. Start your own bazar, sell on Ebay find loopholes in the bazar to get it free. We don’t mind. Its your Karma. But don’t tell us what to do with our money. Have some trust in our long term decisions or go somewhere else
hmm good point @cgoflyn since we never ask people for feedback before we start a new version, like really never. After that we always keep our plans super secret, so no one that helps out has a clue what we are going to do. And obviously during the development process nobody can see where we are up to every month, making it impossible to share suggestions. Because we really don’t want people doing that.
But to be fair. YES we actually do have a filter. We listen carefully to committed members, with a real profile (not 5) that share constructive feedback in a proper way.
this story might clear up a few things https://davehakkens.nl/preciousplastic/bazar-turns-one-heres-what-we-learned/
thanks for the feedback. love it, very helpful! Basically ALL points are on our list to be fixed for V4! Except for this one “some felt as if they are competing in “who makes the greatest product” Not sure how to go about this one, open for suggestions!
looks solid, love it! You are selling them on the bazar? 🙂
nice place @robb, going to dive into that a bit deeper 🙂
I see your point @arihollander, valid. But I do think humans need to find a way to live in harmony with their environment. (i like to think this is actually possible 🙂 And compressing everyone in cities doesnt seem sustainable for the long run. However it does make sense to use existing infrastructure as much as we can. Either way thanks for brining up the points, keeps us sharp!
good questions @terryball. I think the core of kamp is still shaping as we go.. Even now we learn a lot living/working with 40 people from around the world to develop pp V4. Did you end up dropping by at the open day? I know it would make sense for me to reply here, but so many questions, more fun to answer afk 🙂
hi everyone, thanks for the wonderful suggestions! good to know there are still quite some amazing plots available in the world. Although I’ve been quite occupied in the last months setting Precious Plastic V4, getting people onboard and setting up a workspace. But Project Kamp has been very much in my thoughts. After going through the options, seeing which areas makes sense and where we would feel at home we decided to narrow down to Portugal!🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹
Also noticed being flexible actually makes it more difficult to find land, to many options. So here some requirements:
status: for sale or any other official and secure longterm contract
size: min 10-12 hectares
budget: +/- 60.000
transport: (max.) 2h away from a bigger city/airport
possibility to work the land (digging for lakes/wells), grow food, and construct buildings
nice to have: water source (lake, river…), trees/small forest
Let me know if you know anything, anyone, a website, an owner, a plot whatever that could help us to find our Kamp in Portugal.. 🙏
yeahh gifs! 👊
wow looks neat! You have a video or something? Would love to see it running
WOOOWW looks incredible! Really like that you made the space neat and pleasant to work in. Like our container but better! Is it going to be moving or fixed there? Either way a good reason to visit Sri Lanka! Keep up the hard work there.
*Also story of stuff video 👊
i’d say to warm. try to lower temperature a few steps and see the difference..
very much appreciated @timthomson! The original message came straight from my innerself, unfiltered. But indeed its very much about figuring out a blueprint for the human collective then my own little paradise. In fact “our paradise” will probably always be chaos and under development. So thanks for writing out your point of view, going to use that perspective more often in writings!
And a small update for everyone else here
Project kamp got a bit slow down because of Precious Plastic V4. However still very much on the to do list! Now we are mainly focussed on east and south Europe. Now looking into different countries/climates/visa/policies for each area to narrow down search… We will get there, just a bit slower
