Hi, I have start to build a extrusion machine but the hardest problem for me is to find the right tube (barrel) , I have a 26 mm drill screw and I need to know how the internal diameter could be to work well, 26.1, 26.3, 27? Are you using the 25.7 mm extruder screw with 26.. Tube? Thank youin advance for your answer
It is fast enough and allow you to use just, a 1.1 KW motor, so cheaper and lighter than a 2.2 KW, you can use a 47 rpm but you will need more power (1.5 or 1.8kw), as you, can see in many videos when the speed is too high the bottles jump up and they don’t be shredded, you need something to push them, instead with 28 rpm I rare this appens.
Hi Adele, the cost depends on the country you live I think you will start asking to a laser cutter company the cost sending them the files that you find on the PP download kit (I buy it at 340 euros complete) , than you can ask for the motor reducer In that case I can suggest you that is sufficient a 1100w mono phase with 28 rpm or a 750w with 17 RPM but the costs is almost the same(about 370euros) and the weight too. For the frame cost it depend on the material you can ask for steel frame or for extruded aluminium like the one I use, in this case the cost is about 150 euros.
So you develop your own nozzle, for sure the shorter the nozzle the faster you reach it’s temperature, I agree with you that the threaded nozzle is not good, I will try some different setup of the nozzle.

This is my injection machine, the frame is made from extruded aluminium, it is strong and lightweight, I am finishing it with a 3d printed hopper.

Are you able to design a nozzle that can extrude a little plastic pipe? about 5mm internal diameter and 1mm thickness, I would like to extrude pipe for a nice project to recycle plastic. Thank you in advance.
@sonik, this is in theory, as you can see in a lot of videos, many times bottles jump from the blades due to the high speed, in add up must consider the dead times between a bottle and the next, so maybe a 70 rpm will probably produce more kg/hour plastic than a 17 rpm but I think no more than twice. The pp shredder run well at 28 rpm, about the Filamaker that run at 17 rpm it has 2 axes so when it takes a bottle it shred all without bottles jumping. By the way I prefer a 20 kg shredder machine that I can transport and use everywhere, with sunpower or windpower instead of a 70 or more kg machine that need high power energy. what do yo think about it? 😉
@olivier, this 200 Nm will work perfectly with the filaMaker I will use for built next shredder machine, the final sell cost is quite the same of de PP shredder, due to the cost of the motor, the easyer frame and the lower shipping cost, in add the electricity running cost are minimum 1/3 of the PP shredder, in country where the electricity is expensive this make a lot of difference.
I think in the forum we will put a similar post with the really needed power of the machines, when I read post where people says they usa a 5Hp motor to run the shredder, I feel bad, electricity is no 100% produce from renewable sources so we are fighting plastic pollution but we will create other kind of pollution.
This is a list of monophase motor with the resultant torque, the data must be lower about 10% due to the reducer efficiency but he give us an idea of which motor can work.
As you can see is no sense use a 2.2 kw motor with 70 rpm, i think we must think in how can be sustainable this project and the first thing is the efficiency.
Used a 750w monophase 4 pole Motor with finaln28 rpm and it doesn’t work, so with a 1100w 28 Rpm it will work for sure or it’s possible to use a 750w 14 or 17 rpm and it will have enough torque to work.
At the moment I change my mind And I will use the same shredder of Olivier with a 250w motor and 17 rpm, it has more torque than the one he was using (370w 35 rpm?) If it doesn’t work I will use a 370w 17 rpm and recycle the 250w for the extruder.

You don’t need that power, all will be heawy, expensive and consume a lot of electricity, you need a 1100w or maximum 1500w with 28 rpm to shred all you want, you can also choose a 47/56/(70 rpm but the torque could be not enough with 1500w). Motor 1500w complete with reducer will cost in Italy about 490 euros complete of emergency stop and direction inverter.
The coulors are Just to locate faster which combination between motor and gear are almost the same. For the Shredder Ithink we need minimum of 300 NM to shred without problems, I will try in the next days, for the extruder I don’t know because I have never built one.
You need a gear reducer 1:20, better 1: 40. You can transform the 3 phases in 1 phase, it’s quite easy, Google it.
Hi Malyboa, are you able to make little change on the actual cad files? I think the blades must be changed too, but at the moment I think it could be possible make little changes to avoid the assembly problems that all people have found….If you are interested we can discuss on private or here too.

My compact shredder with aluminium frame. It need just some frame modifications, the hopper need to be laser cut in the next days.
I have made some modification, now the frame is perfecrt (last 3 pics) and I have change the blade setup.
Hi guys, I think the fastest way is to make a big plastic panels and use a cnc machines to created interlocking furniture, you can find a lot of cad files to produce practically all kind of furniture.
