• Happened to be looking at the origins of Bronze as a material for a project and found as coherent an explanation as I’ve seen of the transition from Stone to Bronze Age, all of which may form some relevant perspective in the age of plastics.

  • Yep, I’ve seen some nylon being produced….nice long chains.
I had been filming a Bronze sculptor recently and looking into matters bronze, which as an alloy seems to (perhaps similarly) suffer from decomposition into it’s elemental forms, which in it’s fast & undesirable form is called “Bronze disease”.

Perhaps also relevant from Bronze…[Read more]

  • Video reveals how the Black Soldier Fly is being used to process organic (really compostable) waste as a waste processing facility in Indonesia.

  • You could try to begin with obtaining any guidelines, or regulations from your local council about dust, particularly industrial dusts. This may provide a set of figures around which the community can help you investigate. I’d been curious about the scale of processing producing unforeseen consequences, of which dust is a significant industrial…[Read more]

  • You could try to begin with obtaining any guidelines, or regulations from your local council about plastic dust.

I’ve seen sites using fine jets of water to eliminate airborne particles.

I’ve also tried to engage with local councils when I’ve encountered their recycling plants freely discharging dust which is periodically visible from several…[Read more]

  • There’s an metaphor that I encountered regarding questions of scale that I found very useful that uses the children’s story called Goldilocks & the 3 bears.

It’s called the Goldilocks question and it applies to so much of what we do.

How much plastic use would be considered too much?
How much plastic use would be considered too little?
    What…[Read more]

During the week I had a post go missing after editing it…so it was posted & I could see it, but after subsequently editing it & hitting the submit button, it vanished entirely.

  • Hi, I’d be happy to come along for the ride and to create some (video+sound) artifacts about the questions being raised, the answers given and the additional insights developing…so that others might gain insight too.

I’ve many questions about the processes, the engineering and the outcomes that I’d like to have more first-hand knowledge about,…[Read more]

Am about 7 years into no shampoo & no haircuts, though I started with very short hair, so had no problems with an existing mass of hair that got out of control when use of shampoo was stopped. Rinsing with water and regular, careful combing do the business…though I’m bad at combing & do throw away tangled clumps of hair periodically.

    I think…[Read more]

  • Has anyone seen any explanations of the chemistry of the decomposition of (the various kinds of) plastic?

I’ve seen figures thrown around that it takes hundreds, or thousands of years, but I’d like to see explanations for each of the various types of plastic in common use made available for consideration/discussion.

So I went looking for some…[Read more]
