Jean Goubert replied to the topic solutions for motor to shredder coupling in the forum Machine development 6 months, 3 weeks ago

    Hi @klasu,
    thanks for your pm
I have solved my problem with the coupling and this is what I used:
HRC couplings (this explains a bit what they are)

    Hi team,
    I finally bought a motor.
    Got this one  : https://www.motorcontrolwarehouse.co.uk/tec-worm-gearmotor-2-2kw-20-to-1-1.html

It has a 35mm output shaft with keyway and I’m wondering how to connect it to the shredder shaft.
Is it a good idea to turn the 35mm shaft down to 20mm and buy a 20mm coupling bit?
Or should I try and manufacture m…[Read more]

Is that a good thing then? Or should I look for something smaller?
Really struggling with the choice of motor..

    Thanks,
I think I understand. Any tips on the sort of inverter I need?
I thought the inverter was converting mono-phase to 3 phase so I could run a 3 phase motor in a workshop with only mono-phase.
Is there a different kind of inverter that goes from 3 phase to 1 phase?
Thanks for the shaft, that’s clear 😉

    Hi g,
    Thanks for your answer
Not sure I understand why I still need to run it on 3 phase + an inverter?
How do I fix the 35mm shaft in the hollow bore?
Would it not be better to get the one with the 25mm bore and then turn the Hex shaft to 25mm instead of 20mm and stick it straight in the gear box?

    Hi there,
I’ve just received delivery of the shredder laserparts. Excited to get started with the build!
I’m looking for motors at the moment and I found this one on ebay

Hi Andyn, that’s a very neat solution!
Sadly don’t have the lathe option in my workshop, yet 😉
What is the sleeve between the heatband and the barrel?

    thank you guys
    I think I’ve sorted it.
I had the sensor stuck on the back of the band heaters where all the electronics are and i moved them to the front of them by the bolts and all of a sudden it was all fine ‘)
    Thanks for your comments

Hi andyn, thanks for your reply
The thermocouples are both clamped in the band heaters.
I’m in the workshop tonight so I’ll try to play around with the settings of the PID
    Thanks

    Hi jerzeek

    Hi there,
I just finished building a compression and an injection machine
For the compression I had no issue with the temperature control. The SSR is turned off when the temperature is reached and then back on again when it falls down a few degrees
For the injection though, the temperature rises really quickly and then occasionally exceeds the set…[Read more]

    Hi there,
I’m in the process of researching everything that I need for the injection build and there are a few things that I’m still unsure about

The main tube which is supposed to be a standard plumbers pipe, I can’t seem to find anything like it. Any links for ebay or steel manufacturers in the UK?

Also wondering about the nuts that form the…[Read more]
