I’d love to be involved!! I live out in Kitchener, and don’t have any machines, but I do have many skills and could help with design or marketing or whatever….idk, I’m just super excited to be involved!! @aharasymiw sent me this nifty link: https://www.facebook.com/PreciousPlasticCANADA/
Thanks for all the input! The biggest problem with composting in the middle of a forest is to make a system that is big enough to sustain the whole camp (in the summer and winter), but at the same time not being too invasive in the surrounding environment. Chickens and worms could work effectively, but would become a dinnerplate for the entire forest, and Silos could work well without being accessible to wildlife, but may be too large and bulky to install and sustain. Mérci to rame for the clarification on how composting is done.
Unfortunately, I am no longer in a position to make changes at the camp myself (having moved 3500 km away), but I’ll send this thread to leaders there.
Hello! I live in Kitchener currently!
I feel like at this point, as you’ve said (I mean you in the plural form), pretty much all we can do at this point is raise awareness about these concerns. Teach people! Bring it up in normal conversation. Let them know why it’s important and why you care! If we could all give each of our friends just one more reason why to not buy one, we may save thousands of fidget spinners from production — who knows! Think globally, act locally (I can’t remember who said that one, but it is so true!). I find it so sad how not only is this product becoming so widespread, but how it’s virtually unrecyclable (on a small community precious plastic scale), but as always any ideas are welcome and needed.
Hi! I’m in Calgary right now, but I’m moving to Kitchener/Waterloo this August.
I love this project! I think I may have to do this one sometime. thanks for sharing!
Hi, Dustin! Happy to have you here! Where are you at in North America?
Very cool! What type of light do you use for your cube?
Woo! I did it!
I can’t find Dave’s email anywhere, could you help me?
Hey! good to see more Canadians. I really like your plan, if I’m ever in the area, I’d really like to meet up. I live in Calgary now, but will be moving to Ontario this summer. Cheers!
quick update on me: I’ll be moving with my family to Kitchener, Ontario this August, and then shortly after that, I’ll go on a 2-year mission, meaning that for the next 2.5 years, I won’t be able to do much in terms of machining, etc. however; I am still super interested in networking and keeping my options open for the future! Thanks everyone!
