jayavignesh wrote: There are several operating systems such Windows, iOS, Android, Tizen, Ubuntu. I think phonebloks should give the user the option of choosing his favourite OS and should not be limited to one Operating system. When you can change hardware according to needs the same should go with the operating system. Also if the user wants to have dual OS something like Ubuntu Edge(Ubuntu and Android)(it did not enter the market). A type-1 hypervisor could be used to achieve this you do realize that the os will need to be adjusted to the needs of the phone, there will be ALOT of bugs at first. It will be better to pick one OS and focus on bugfixing it and optimizing it rather than multiple ones that would probably work badly

No, he is right, PB is trying to create a new type of electronic technology and design. Although the weight and size is an important aspect, the main goal is to optimize the modular aspects of the phone

Besides, the idea of phonebloks isnt to be a massive success and dominate the phone industry, its to take a step in a new direction and motivate other companies to move towards creating modular electronics 🙂

Heavy duty = heavy, but im pretty sure there shouldnt be a problem making it comfortable. I mean, look at the bewest phones that are being released, they are so thin that even if the phone was twice as thick it wouldnt make such a great difference

Agreed joel, you do not need a whole blok created solely for fitness. There is already a motion sensor on the phone, which can track basic movement. And if you want to track your running progress that can be done with a GPS blok, which ofc serves as a so called tracking device amongst other things

Im not sure if there is a way to clean a headphones jack, its not uncommon that headphone jacks and any other similar parts like the charging opening get filled up with dust and dirt.It shouldnt really affect the way the jack operates. If it builds up too much you can clean it with a toothpick or something else very thin, or alternatively just buy a new jack, because thats what we have so many blocks for

To cut it short apple is not willing to share their software with other companies. The software is most likely going to be android but i dont think anything has been decided as of right now

I agree, one of the problems with pb is knowing which block is faulty. If the phone was able to scan itself and come up with results it would be very convenient for the user. I think this is a great idea, after all, nobody wants to throw away the wrong blok

Im not sire how it would work coming from the phone itself but if it connected to a custom made external device it would be a great idea!

By the time people will have figured out how to im sure third party conpanies will have already created possible antiviruses for the phone. If they go for android there are already plenty of antiviruses available for download so that isnt a problem

modern processor power doubles itself every 1.5-3 years nowadays, some of the issues that he brought up like the phones size shouldnt be too much of a problem as technology allows us to keep creating smaller, stronger and cheaper components. Maybe his arguement was valid in 2013 but i dont know if it still is… 🙂

JGermanotta wrote: A display really isn’t good enough if it’s basic. By basic I mean like a normal 1080p display. A 4k display would give more detail allow you to see clearly and you won’t miss a detail. It would have a 4096 x 2160 resolution. Compare it to the 1920 x 1080 resolution. Of course, 1920 x 1080 is nothing. firstly, 1080p on a phone is retina display, retina meaning you cannot actually see the pixels maybe unless you bring your eyes right upto the screen or in other words, 1080p isnt basic, its blu-ray definition and on a phone its very graphical i can tell you that for sure because my ipod touch has a 720p resolution yet its still retina.I am not saying its not a good idea, i still think that a 4k resolution on a phone would be amazing but it would depend on how big the screen is.might i mention that theres no way your wifi box would load a 4k video onto your phone without buffering every 5 seconds

no, because it would cost money and it would be more efficient to simply use a gps block or something, i wouldnt waste space on my phone for a distress signal blok that chances are i would never use
